Breast Augmentation in Mexico
What is breast augmentation?
Implanted breast augmentation is intended for women with underdeveloped breasts and those who have lost their glands as a result of pregnancy or weight loss.
It consists in inserting a prosthesis placed either under your gland or under your pectoral muscle through a small hole (located under the breast, under the areola or in the axillary cavity). These prostheses can be filled with saline solution or silicone.
A good evaluation of your condition will allow you to determine which access road, implantation site, type and volume of prosthesis best meets your expectations.
It is also important to understand that your approach does not end on the day of surgery: you take responsibility for listening carefully to your doctor's instructions and you commit to periodic examinations.
Silicone or saline implants?
Breast implants, although very sophisticated, will never be able to accurately mimic breast tissue. You must be aware of this and accept the limitations and complications specific to implants such as limited lifespan, ruptures and breast hardening.
Indeed, they are not permanent, as they undergo an ageing process that will require future replacement (about 10 to 15 years). A phenomenon of rejection is also observed in a small number of cases. This causes the breast to harden. Finally, for each year following surgery, 1% of these implants will rupture prematurely.
Breast implants filled with saline water or silicone gel can be used. The choice will be discussed with Dr. Bensimon and the advantages and disadvantages of each type of implant will be explained to you.
All breast implants are made of an outer shell of silicone elastomer (solid silicone) that is in contact with the body. This envelope can be smooth or rough.
Silicone cohesive gel implants are pre-filled because the filler has been factory incorporated (silicone gel), so its volume is fixed by the manufacturer.
On the other hand, saline-inflatable breast implants are filled by the surgeon who can adjust the volume of the prosthesis within a certain limit during the procedure.
Other filling materials such as soybean oil, PVP or hydrogel have also been tested but are not currently used.
Round prostheses are still the most commonly used. Their profile projection and base vary according to the models and manufacturers.
In recent years, there have been so-called "anatomical" implants with a water drop shape that can be implanted more naturally, especially in breast reconstruction.
